Jimmy Johnstone, Celtic's greatest ever player, has died after a long illness. Billy McNeill spoke of his devastation at the news, but described his admiration for the way in which Jinky had courageously handled his illness over the past few years.

A bronze statue in honour of Celtic legend Jimmy Johnstone has been unveiled outside the football club's stadium in the east end of Glasgow.
Johnstone, known to fans as Jinky, died in March 2006 at the age of 61, after a long battle with motor neurone disease.

Celtic Football Club today unveiled a memorial statue in honour of the magnificent Jimmy Johnstone, the man voted the club’s Greatest Ever Player.
The stunning statue, positioned at the main entrance to Celtic Park will be a lasting tribute to Jimmy, a man who the club is so proud to have as one of its favourite sons.
